We are thrilled to announce our latest animation project, a captivating animation journey through the lively Taikoo Place neighborhood. This project was made possible through our collaboration with the exceptionally talented illustrator, Don Mak. Together, we've brought to life a vibrant world where viewers can explore their favorite spots to eat, drink, shop, meet, and play.

Project Overview
In this unique endeavor, Don Mak provided us with exquisite watercolor illustrations that capture the essence of Taikoo Place. We took these artistic inputs and transformed them into a dynamic animation. Using Adobe After Effects, we meticulously rigged and animated over 80 characters, each with their own distinct walk cycles and interactions.

Challenges and Innovations
One of the significant challenges we faced in this project was the sheer number of characters that needed rigging — a total of 80, all within a very tight schedule. Fortunately, our previous projects with Don had led us to develop a robust 2D character workflow in Adobe After Effects, which greatly streamlined our process. This experience allowed us to efficiently manage the complexity and scale of the animation without compromising on quality.

Behind the Scenes
The animation process began with Don sending us his watercolor illustrations. Our team then worked on rigging the characters, a task that involves giving them movement capabilities within the software. Following this, we animated the characters’ walk cycles and added various effects to enhance the visual appeal and dynamism of the scenes.
